Introduction

Well, everyone is writing a blog right?! So why not jump on the bandwagon!  But seriously, I have been trying to learn a new BI tool and that happens to be Tableau at this point. As I am learning the tool, I am thinking well, I am struggling with a few of these pieces, why not share with the community?  So, I am going to share some lessons learned as I work through the tool.  My best learning experiences have been doing MakeoverMonday and the reviews. So that is most likely where I will start.  One a weekly basis, my topics will be about the Data,Weekly Learning Aspects (if there are any), Lessons Learned and Inspirations (whom). 

A little bit about me.  I have been working in the consulting Business for over 18 years.  I have been working in the Business Intelligence and reporting world for over 13 years.  My passion is for data and making sense of data.  Although my strength is in SAP Business Objects (BO) and SQL,  I am loving Tableau for making visual sense of the data.  I do understand and believe there is a need for day to day reporting outside of the visual world (thus tools like BO) but for now, my posts most likely will be about Tableau.

Outside of Tableau, I love running, biking, skiing, Yoga and DIY projects as time permits.

I have been asked for input and resources in reference to securing my Tableau Specialist Certification, so I thought it would be best to write about it in a blog. Updated Vizual Resume - Resources/Tips-Tricks

  Lessons Learned – Updating my Visual Resume – 2021 I made a New Year’s goal to update my resume since its been about 2 years and feel it is important to keep a resume up to date even if you are very happy in your current role.   Overall, it makes the task that much easier if you ever need to do it quickly and allows one to keep current in the field. Dream Job & Fit Body/Mind

  Reflection on my last year! How I found my dream job (for a dream company) and physically & mentally feel the best I have in many years if not my life?   This blog is out of traditional context or the typical purposes of my blog as I reflect on my today on my birthday.   Because I am about to enter a dream job with a dream company , I thought it might be beneficial to talk a little on the ‘how’ in my journey.   A lot of this had to do with having extra time during covid while also owning my direction during this extra time.   Because our social lives were shut down, I found myself embracing two significant pieces in my life that I wanted to own more.   The first being jumping into Reporting and Tableau Analytics and the second being fitness.   I will talk to both during this excerpt as I believe both are intertwined.
